IntellibundleTM - What is it?
Intellibundle started out as an acronym called LAKVAK standing for Learn Assimilate Know
Value Added Kits.
After some time deliberating, I changed my mind (LAKVAK although unique sounded a little "lacking" the more I repeated it). So rather than
stick with the term, the term Intellibundle was born instead.
An Intellibundle will comprise at a minimum:
- Textual information - in the form of an article/report/PDF
- A Visual information representation, eg
-
- A Powerpoint
- A Video presentation
- A Mindmap
- An MP3 recording of the content.
Intellibundles
The term VAK originally had two meanings:
- #1 Value Added Kit
- #2 Visual Auditory Kinaesthetic
So, Intellibundles are bundles of information using different learning modalities in an intelligent fashion.
Hence Intellibundle.
How we learn
We all have different primary learning modalities - most of us favour "seeing things" - hence the visual element of an Intellibundle. For
other people, listening is the way to go - hence the audiotory element and others still favour touching/doing things - the kineasthetic
element.
Although we have a primary style we favour when taking in new information, we can digest information and learn things more effectively when we
engage as many of our senses and engage in multi-modal learning.
Multi-Modal Learning
You may have come across the term VAKOG before, especially if you are familiar with the concepts of Neuro Linguistic Programming
(NLP).
VAKOG stands for:
- Visual
- Auditory
- Kinaesthetic
- Olfactory
- Gustatory
In other words, VAKOG is all about our 5 senses. In the online world, the O and the G of VAKOG are not available yet to "learn" things better
- who knows, one day soon perhaps though...
Right now, JointWinWin will help you by providing Intellibundles to help you learn and assimilate information making the most effective and
efficient use of your time and knowledge.
Your Attention Span
How long can you focus on one particular subjet?
- 30 minutes?
- 60 minutes?
- Longer?
Well, if the truth be told it differs from one person to another. There is a common denominator though which is we cannot focus on a single
topic for an indeterminate amount of time. The longer you stay focused on one subject, the less efficient your brain becomes trying to understand
and work upon the information at hand.
Indeed, your brain becomes bored with "too much of a good thing" as it were.
So the answer to effective and efficient learning is to break it up into "bite-sized chunks". This is why Intellibundles will be split into
smaller rather than huge information delivery packs.
There is a lot of research on this subject matter (one day I'll expand more on this) but the upshot is the more starts and stops you have, the
more information you will retain. This uses something called "The Primacy/Recency" effect.
So, as a general rule of thumb, Intellibundles will be as short as a couple of minutes through to the 20 to 30 minute mark unless
chopping the content up hampers continuity and understanding (in which case they might be a tad longer).
Put simply, Intellibundles will be exactly as long as they need to be to get their point across.
Intellibundle Library
There will also be a Intellibundle library where you will be able to find all of the publicly
available Intellibundles in one easy to find area.
