World Community Grid
In a nutshell, if you have a computer, you can help:
And all this is done without you having to lift a finger - your computer does all the hard work. More to the point, it only does
so using unused processing cycles. In other words, when your computer is doing nothing (which believe it or not is most of the time), these CPU
cycles will be used to perform calculations, which as part of the World Community Grid team in general and the JointWinWin team in particular, to
perform humanitarian research on behalf of us all.
If you have a PC and are familiar with the Windows Task Manager, you may see a screen like this:

This is just a quick snapshot of some of the processes running (86 above are running at the same time) on my machine. The
interesting one to note is the "System Idle Process". This is not really a process as such and it's name is confusing. What it is telling you in
the above screenshot is that even though I have 86 processes running on my machine (my World Community Client is suspended so I can demonstrate
this to you btw), my machine is doing nothing 98% of the time!
It's incredible to think how many PCs out there are sitting idling away when they could be harnessed for the good of
humanity.
